Be happy with yourself

We are always quick to criticise ourselves, knock ourselves down. We listen to any negativity we detect from people and we forget the nice remarks, or the things people do for us.

When you think about some of the happiest times you’ve had, I bet they’ve been with other people. And you’ve been happy with how you were then, so why do we doubt ourselves, lose trust in ourselves?

Through my happiness project I have come up against the negative self-talk and it’s hard knocking it down but the more you focus on the positives, the more you see the good in everything and not the bad. Forever seeing the silver lining of the cloud rather than the promise of rain is a positive attitude which can transform your way of thinking and your life.

When people plant niggling doubts in your head, worries or fears, don’t listen! Switch off and tune into your heart. What is it telling you? How do you feel?

If it feels good, you’re doing fine. Take things as they come and only measure life by how happy you are. We are too quick to put label on things, define what we are or what we are doing. Life’s too short not to just live it.

We are all guilty of spending too much time analysing, worrying or thinking about what other people think of us. But when you meet people who challenge this, and you spend time with them not thinking of anything, these are the people you need to spend more time with because they make you happy. We are most happy when we are enjoying the moment, not thinking about anything else.
Most likely these people are friends or family. You feel relaxed around them and this is one of the most special feeling around.

One thing which I have become very aware of in my happiness project is how important it is to be surrounded by people who you can be yourself with. Where time passes and you don’t even notice. People you can have a laugh with or talk about nothing with. Or people you can just be with. Where you don’t feel you have to keep talking, where silence is enough. These are the ones worth hanging onto and how you feel around these people is who you really are. This is your happy.

Stop thinking and just be. Be happy with who you are. Be happy you have people who love and value you. Be happy that you are living the life you are. Happiness is there to be enjoyed and shared.
