After over a week of trying new recipes, I’ve come to the conclusion that good cooking and mess tend to go hand in hand. Although, being someone who dislikes mess, I always try and keep things relatively tidy.
Honey, however, is exceptionally difficult to control.
I tried my hand at honey mustard chicken, which was all going smoothly until I had to start mixing the honey and mustard and baste the chicken with it. At that point, it got on the spoon, the worktop, the baking tray, the tongs, the plate and also (I’m glad to say) some of it actually made it onto the chicken!
Once the chicken was cooked and the veggies done, I had the fun job of wiping away all traces of honey from the kitchen and piling all honey-coated utensils next to the sink in an effort to isolate the sticky-ness.
The meal was delicious in the end and there is no lasting evidence of the honey in the kitchen!
